Singer/saxophonist Erich Cawalla has been entertaining audiences since 1998, when he was asked by Bobby Mercer to join his nationally-known band. As a member of The Bobby Mercer Road Show, Erich performed with some of PA’s best musicians including Billy Bower, Omer Godinet, Tony Kurdilla, and Rob Diener, to name a few. While working side-by-side with these entertainers, Erich broadened both his musical and performing talents.
In 2002, while still working with Mercer, Erich began to pursue other musical endeavors with various local and regional acts. Some of these acts include The Mudflaps, The John King Dance Band, Joe Keys, Synergy, and Tony Malandro, with whom Erich still performs with in Atlantic City lounges and showrooms. Erich also began his solo career in 2002, performing for area clubs, restaurants, and private parties. With the continued assistance of Mercer in 2002, Erich made his musical debut in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.
The year 2003 brought a huge opportunity for Erich to get more closely acquainted with the PA musical community. In May 2003, Erich became the new lead singer with well-known area band, Burning House. In 2005, with a heavy heart, Erich decided to leave Burning House, and along with fiance Jenifer Kinder, formed The Uptown Band.
Currently, Erich maintains a busy performing schedule with The Uptown Band at fairs, festivals, clubs, and private parties, but also finds time to freelance with other bands as well as maintain his solo career. Erich is a native of Shillington, Pennsylvania (outside of Reading, Pennsylvania). visit: www.erichcawalla.com
