Monica Anders said... The Producer’s Corner with Spud Too Tight sits down with Michael Manson, one prolific and outstanding Bassist/Composer and Producer. They discussed production, composition, major influences and passion for their craft. On Michael Manson’s new CD “Up Front”. It, he is credited for writing and production. For this album Michael has collected the who’s who of Smooth Jazz: Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum, Jeff Lorber, Brian Culbertson, Nelson Range, Norman Brown, Paul Jackson Jr., the legendary George Duke and many more great jazz musicians. This album is a great mix of contemporary jazz, R&B and even a little gospel. For Michael Manson the bottom line has always been great music. Since he first picked up a guitar (not a bass), he has moved persistently from strength to strength, one association leading inevitably to another in a career that has brought him front and center with the most esteemed names in jazz, gospel, R&B, rock and pop. Michael Manson is a renowned bassist, songwriter and music producer. He has been nominated for several prestigious music awards including a Grammy nomination for his work with George Duke. As a performing artist, Manson has shared the stage with the likes of Larry Carlton, Kirk Whalum, Boney James, Rick Braun, Kenny Garrett, Kevin Mahogany and tours regularly with George Duke. Manson has taught instrumental and vocal music at the Northbrook, Evanston and Chicago School District. He holds a Master of Music Degree from Northwestern University and Bachelor of Science Degree in Music education from Chicago State and is an adjunct professor at Chicago State University. visit: www.mikemanson.com
